Love her Look: Miranda Kerr

Love her Look: Miranda Kerr

Miranda Kerr is the epitome of chic, polished street style.  The elegant simplicity of the monochrome skirt and blouse is perfectly dressed down with a cute trilby and denim jacket.  The length of the jacket means your waist is highlighted, preventing it from swamping you.  The subtle print on the classic tote adds a sense of fun but keeps the whole look understated and effortless.

Golden Globes

Golden Globes

I am thrilled that Award's Season is back and the first red carpet to scrutinise was this Sunday.  The Golden Globes red carpet was dazzling, with a gorgeous array of colours and styles on display.  Lucy Liu chose a daring Carolina Herrera gown; the classic cut means the quirky floral pattern doesn't become overwhelming while her simple hair and make-up complement the busy dress well.  Claire Danes looked stunning in a red Versace dress, its elegant simplicity showcasing her amazing post-baby body!  Fishtails were a huge trend, seen on Jessica Alba's flattering coral Oscar de la Renta, whose red carpet dresses always hit the mark for me, as well as Hayden Panettiere, who looked sophisticated and elegant in a beautiful Cavailli gown.  Other stars including Amy Adams also wore fishtails, cementing their position firmly on the red carpet radar.  Taylor Swift's backless plum dress by Donna Karan was a huge change from her usual style, far more vampy than we're used to from the singer and I think it paid off; she looked amazing.  Katharine McPhee's Theyskens Theory dress was off the scale sexy with its thigh high split and plunging neckline.  Normally, this would be far too much, but somehow she pulls it off with minimal accessorising and beauty choices.  Another notable choice is Jessica Chastain's pale blue Calvin Klein gown.  The colour was sensational with her skin tone and the cut was flattering.

Who is your best and worst dressed of the Golden Globes?

2000s Fashion Icons

2000s Fashion Icons

The noughties have seen a host of new fashion icons who have played a role in inspiring and redefining style.  Whether she's dressed up for the red carpet in a dazzling, dramatic gown or off duty in her chilled 'California surf' style, Blake Lively always turns heads.  Her fashion icon status was cemented when Karl Lagerfield named her as the new Chanel muse.  Alexa Chung's quirky, preppy style has also earned her the respect of a top design house; Mulberry's classic 'Alexa' satchel is inspired by and named after the presenter/model and she regularly graces the FROWs.  The Olsen twins have gone beyond inspiring designers and their accessory label 'The Row' has grown in popularity since its launch.  Featuring classic, minimal designs it fits perfectly with their effortless use of oversize pieces, classic cuts and layering.  Another fashion icon of the decade is Kate Middleton, causing a shopping frenzy anytime she wears a high street piece.  Her elegant ladylike style is always spot on and she manages to balance the expectations of her position with style.  Her down-to-earth re-wearing of everything in her wardrobe has also earned her a lot of respect and admiration.

These women truly are fashion icons and every one of them can inspire everyday style.  What's your take on noughties fashion icons?

Fashion Icons of the 1990s

Fashion Icons of the 1990s

The 1990s fashion icons really are varied; some continue to inspire, while others are very much 'of their time'!  Gwen Stefani, with her edgy, rock chick style still appears in many best dressed lists and her trademark blonde hair and red lipstick are still definite beauty inspiration!  Kate Moss also retains her fashion icon status and doubtless her effortlessly cool look will keep her on the fashion radar for a long tim to come.  Britney's style on the other hand is unlikely to turn many heads now, but she was truly the golden girl on the 90s!  And how many people had 'the Rachel'?  Despite Jennifer Aniston hating that hairstyle, it and Rachel's NY style earned her a place as a fashion icon!  Although she has never gone back to the Rachel do, her trademark 'bronde' colour is just as iconic.

What do you think of 90s fashion?  Anyone I missed?
